incorporated methodology to detect the presence and concentration of Geosmin and MIB in drinking and source waters.

What are Geosmin and MIB?

Geosmin (1,2,7,7-tetramethyl-2-norborneol) and MIB (2-methylisoborneol) are compounds that are known to cause odors in drinking water.

Geosmin and MIB are commonly associated with earthy and musty smells in some waters and are produced naturally by some species of algae and cyanobacterium.
